The first few steps with a saddle on are usually more challenging for a young horse than introducing the saddle itself. Once the ground tie is established, and confidence in being touched has been developed (like with the pipe in the previous video), putting the saddle on and girthing it up is not much of a stretch. We spent a few minutes putting the saddle on and taking it off, and this video shows the first walk steps with the saddle on. Even though it is girthed fairly loose, it feels quite restrictive to the horse because the panels are rigid and don't move freely over the muscles. We start small though, with just a few steps, and work up to longer stretches. For more Dexter visit http://lucanlodge.net/photoblog.aspx.
