Summer Wars is a 2009 Japanese animated science fiction romance film directed by Mamoru Hosoda and written by Satoko Okudera from a story by Hosoda. The film was produced by Madhouse and released by Warner Bros. Pictures Japan. The film's voice-cast features Ryūnosuke Kamiki, Nanami Sakuraba, Mitsuki Tanimura, and Sumiko Fuji. Set in a territory governed by a clan in Ueda, the film's story focuses on Kenji Koiso, a timid eleventh-grade math genius who has been falsely implicated in the hacking of a virtual world and, with the aid of upper-classman Natsuki Shinohara's extensive family, must prevent the real and computer-simulated worlds from colliding.

Love this movie :D I wish I was Japanese because then I could watch anime without everyone thinking I'm weird :/ plus, the director involved in this movie must to really good because this and the girl who leapt through time are my two favourite movies :D

When I was in Japan in 2010 I remember watching this on TV, though I didn't have any idea what was going on. :D
Rewatched it in english last yeah, amazing movie.

Very good anime film. Ridiculous plot, though. Not for the sci-fi elements, but for the way the characters all conveniently fall into place.
