This isn't a thriller. Waltzes from Vienna (1934) can be considered as Hitchcock's only musical. Although he wasn't interested in the project, still he tried to put all of his touches in the project. Hitchcock worked with his wife Alma Reville and Guy Bolton in the scripting process. Erich Korngold and Julius Bittner did musical arrangement for this film. As for me, I love this film. Camera Shots are so brilliant. Waltzes from Vienna also contains lots of Hitchcock humor.

  • Where on earth did you get this material? This is the only Hitchcock-film missing in my DVD-collection! Thank you for posting this, after having been a fan for nearly 20 years, I can finally say that I have seen every Hitchcockfilm :D:D:D.

  • I'm pretty sure you don't have "the mountain eagle" in your collection and haven't seen it either. Because there are no surviving copies existing...

Do you know where you did get a copy of "elstree calling"? That's the one i miss in my collection.

  • Hollywood tried to lure Jessie Matthews away from Gaumont, but she wouldn't go. Hitch ended up going though.

  • the DVD has been issued in 2009 (or so I think) you can find it on Amazon!!!

  • @bakooi Thanks, that's very helpful. I was immediately drawn to them, especially the older ones - I find he always has time to make the characters unfold and conduct dialogues that add realism and depth to the films.

  • @billybizar You're right. And that's why I consider my collection complete without The Mountain Eagle.

  • @chrish12345 There are many classics, loads of films which I would rank 'good'. To me the only read dud - besides Waltzes from Vienna - is The Skin Game, which is all talk an no action, except for the auction scene. Juno & The Paycock is rather dated, but well-acted. Not your typical Hitchcock-fare however. Frenzy, Topaz, Lifeboat and Foreign Correspondent are lesser-known masterpieces.

  • @bakooi did u like all of em or some duds? I'm trying to see them all myself.

  • Thank you so MUCH! How exciting to see this rare film. The quality is so good too. These old classics put the movies of today to shame. Bless you for posting it.

  • What an amazing rarity!!!

    Thank You!!!
