THREE LITTLE WORDS by Duke Ellington and his Orchestra with vocal refrain by The Rhythm Boys (Bing Crosby, Al Rinker, and Harry Barris), recorded in Hollywood August 26, 1930, before Bing Crosby became really famous. Enjoy!

  • @vinylsingleman Racially integrated recording dates were not new when this record was made though integration on the public stage was clearly another matter.

Here's one from 1929 where Coleman Hawkins is the guest with white musicians.

  • In 1930, a record with three white singers singing under a black bandleader making it to #1---wasn't this a major step forward in integration in America?

  • Love it.

  • I hope you get to download the flip side of this record "Ring Dem Bells" with a 17-year-old groupie by the name of Charlie Barnet, assisting Sonny Greer with the tubular bells. Yes, the same Charlie Barnet of "Cherokee" fame.
