Daaero, I'd rather by a used Honda powered generator (lots of other brands use Honda engines to power them) than a NEW generator with a non-Honda engine. As for sound proofing, you can sound proof any generator, but you run the risk of fire, or shortening the life of the generator without enough fresh air or adequate room around the generator. Be careful with homemade sound proofing. A sound proof shed with proper ventilation would be a better option.

Use dynamat sound proofing, some steel wool and a cheap ebay generator is a valid rival. Eco throttle isn't exclusive. My ebay gen has it :)

2.5k for a generator... You really are paying for just the brand name.. Considering they are made in the same factory
