My favourite song from this movie (which is odd since it doesn't have Doris singing in it lol) Billy De Wolfe & Anne Triola singing You're Dependable from the Doris Day music Lullaby of Broadway.
Yes, I agree with everything you said. De Wolf had a girlfriend named Maria. I can see it watching the 1951 film Lullaby Of Broadway. They come after these bachelor actors in almost witchhunt fashion. Still, it's like my Father said, and he's a preacher. If DeWolf could have married one of his, any of his girlfriends during his lifetime, it would have served as his own personal protection in defending his good name. The sanctity of marriage. It's a good thing. My Father is right.
@SteveCarras Your absolutly correct. Billy was thought to have been gay, but he was straight. I know this because My great grandmother was a good friend of Billy's My grandmother told me a story about Billy. She said my great grandma and Billy were childhood friends. When they met up again in 1963, Billy recognized her and he was with his girlfriend Maria. At the time they we're together for 3 years, and they were together until Billy died. He signed an autograph, and my Mother now has it.
Anne Triola is wonderful. I actually watched her in the John Wayne film "Without Reservations." I am a new Anne Triola fan. I kept wanting to see more of her in that film. She is a beautiful brunette - and can sing and act too! Hollywood blew it with this one. She should have been in more films. I want to write her Wikipedia but I need some kind of written autobiography of Triola. I have done Wikipedia articles of Nebraska football players.
I came looking for more of Anne Triola... too bad that most of her career seems to have been live performance... meaning most of it is lost to us who came later.
She's quite charming and funny... a bit of similarity to Carol Burnett to my eye.
Mr.Duke, have you ever seen the part in Frosty where Professor Hinkle thinks he's tipping his HAT to a woman? That proved he was straight. Likewise very convincing in the music number here. Drop it already. alright?:)
HE reminds me ofPauol Lyne, too. And Bladepaw correct,Billy De Wolfe had no evidence of being so claled gay. That like attacking Bugs Bunny, Popeye, Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble, Yogi Bear, and Felix the Cat and others who dressed in drag or Snagglepuss or Peppermint Patty.
@Bladepaw18 Do you know who he reminds me of? Paul Lynde, also known for playing "fussy," was a confirmed gay man. Ever see him as a married father in Bye Bye Birdie? How are we supposed to believe that he empregnated a woman twice? Thinking of De Wolfe, the magician in Frosty never talked about a wife or girlfriend. He kept chasing a fine, suede hat. Hmmm... fussing about style. That's something to think about. A gay is a gay is a gay. Period.
