Thanks for the post and the idea of keeping an instrument by the toilet. Who needs to read when you practice in the most accoustic room in most people's house. Great idea.

Hi.Thanks for your comment. I used Aquila strings from a local shop. Purple Turtle - they have an ebay shop. Aquila strings are more expensive but make a huge difference. I put them on my 6 year old's spong bob uke. Sounds great too! Cheers Mat

did you have to file out the bridge for the gut strings? i know they are thicker than steel.

Hi. I didn't file but it was a very tight fit and probably could have done with filing. Though the slots were probably already too big!
