@Vorash2002 I think it opens around early to mid December, closes around late April. The break-up is apparently really dramatic: the ice cracks along both shores suddenly and starts flowing away. I flew over Great Slave Lake yesterday and there's still some ice out there. The ice on Great Bear Lake, further north, won't melt until late June or early July - hard to believe!
