@marc197608 That's interesting, how old were you at that time? I'm curious just because of how things sort of come around. Do you still listen?
-
@ChicagoIrishman I don't really remember, but I think it was less than 20 minutes. During a three-month period in 1996 I called in about 20 times and got on the air and have not called the show in the past 15 years.

@marc197608 How long did you have to wait to get on the air? Did you get a lead in?

This clip is awesome! I was actually the one who called Howard back in 1996 and asked about everyone's middle names just so I could get on the air. I never knew it would lead to this big revelation.

haha so you mean your name was never fred hahahaha yes!

I understand Fred's mind on this subject. He hated the name Fred, so he changed his name to get rid of the taint *insert Jackie laugh* that followed him his whole life from that name. But because everybody knows him as Fred, he felt it would be best to keep it that way instead of putting everybody through the trouble of calling him Eric from then on.

I'm scared I'm scared I'm scared of fred

Oh my god I can't believe howard's gonna go into the The Eagles Nest .Also known as fred's mind and bust his long and jigglelys by goofin on him because he changed his name to Eric.

Fred Leo Nukis --- Eric Fred Norris
Wikipedia
Fred revealed that the last name Norris is that of his kindly stepfather. Nukis was his biological father's name and Fred wished to remove that father from his life. Fred claimed that his mother wanted to name him Eric at birth, but that his natural father had not allowed it because "Eric" was the name of his mother's former boyfriend. The name Leo was selected by his maternal aunt - the same woman who eventually eloped with his natural father.

From 1:10 to 1:50 it sounds like something out of who's on first.
