Every January to celebrate Hen Galan - old new year - Chepstow hosts a meeting between English and Welsh traditions at the mid point of the bridge over the river Wye. The English bring Morris dancers (Rag Morris from Bristol) and wassailers, the Welsh 3 Mari Lwyds plus Welsh morris teams, piped onto the bridge by a Welsh piper and drums.
All organised by Widders Border Morris. Also present - the BUMs border morris and Heb Enw Morris from Pembrokeshire. The three Maris are one from the Widders, one with Heb Enw and the third is the Llantrisant Mari.
Great video. I could instantly recognize the Chepstow and Llantrisant maris but did not know about the Widders' until now. Thanks for posting.
