  • This film of the 1939 fair is the finest I have seen. The night time fountain show is beyond striking.

  • The '39 New York Fair has the reputation of being the finest in history. No more World's Fairs now; everyone HATES each other.

  • how come there isn't any more World's Fair in any state and i wish i was born doing the 1930's

  • Strange to see the way we used to be, everything new and clean, pride in our industries (who've all since outsourced most of their labor) . We now have crumbling infrastructure and an overwhelming grip of pessimism have taken the country. It really is heartbreaking. That being said, even in current times; I would much rather be the US of 2012 than the Germany of 1939.

  • @edwardjames50 Exactly. I often wonder the same thing. Why don't we have world's fairs or world exhibitions anymore? Clearly we need it now more than ever!

  • @muppetchile , yes its amazing. Those dancers are rather impressive.

  • You can still go and see the fair, they kept it exactly how it was back then , the cars and all.

  • If you really think about it. As a society...we've really devolved since then.

  • @edwardjames50 I checked out txmike9i5 profile and he has nothing but people hating him because of his rudeness. We sometimes call these people Trolls. They go from video to video and deliberately start confrontations. Your best bet is to ignore him.

  • @txmike9i5 ~ I can't speak for anyone else, including you, but I am not retarded. Sorry if I offended your delicate sensibilities by not having heard about the Shanghai event; it certainly wasn't heavily publicized. Now let me ask you something. Were you brought up by siblings who copulated, which would explain your unprovoked rudeness?

  • @edwardjames50 are you and the people who liked your status retarded? World fairs still occurs, the 2010 took place in Shanghai China
