  • There best guess is he went back downstream against the warnings and that he was snorkeling face down. The gator probably cruised right next to him without him ever knowing and then, bam... snapped those jaws on his head. The gator took him down and wedged his body in some rocks (they do that with larger prey sometimes to let them rot down there and bloat). They sent in divers and recovered the dude and killed the offending alligator - an 11 footer.

  • The man killed was George Cummings III, aged 29. He left the swimming area and went snorkeling downstream. One of the jungle boat cruises picked him up way down river and told him he couldn't leave the swimming area and warned him of the myriad big gators. But they didn't kick him out and took him back up to the swimming area. Later on a glass bottom boat outing saw a gator with a deer or pig, down about 80 ft deep near the headsprings, and going deeper. It wasn't, it was George.

  • !?!?!?!??!?! When I went to wakulla springs they said they're have only been like 2 sightings of manatees there ever!!! >:O

  • The state government just added to the glades, but it will be six years until that takes effect because the sugar company still has six years to grow sugarcane. Nature Conservancy has added more land all over the nation, this is not a good time for developers because of the housing market.

  • I agree totally, no alligator killed anyone in the head springs.

  • I'm in S. Florida right now. I hope the diease that it is never makes it that far north These people down here don't know what's really valuable. Look how the developers and businesses wrecked the 'glades, and now they're spending billions to try to fix it. I'll loose my mind if people ever start wrecking the Natural habitat up there. At least Tallahassee is finally going to do something about their sewage. Won't be soon enough, though. Can't wait to get back to a clean place to swim.

  • An alligator should not kill a man in the swimming area where the headsprings are. This is a nice video, relaxing. I love canoeing and swimming and snorkeling in the springs. I went with two friends the other day. Wakulla is a huge spring.

  • when we were kyacking down that river a famil of manatees came up to us and the small baby came up and surfaced right next to me :)

  • The alligator killed a man OUTSIDE the swimming area. No one has ever been killed within th bouys marking the swimming area. The man you are talking about went outside the bouys.

  • very nice, Real Fl, not the coast.
