The big hit was 'Mama Didn't Lie' in '62, but Jan Bradley didn't just disappear as some would think. Jan cut sides for Chess until 1968, and some, like 'I'm Over You' in '64 and 'Your Kind of Lovin''67, were nice records. This record done in 1970 on Doylen still shows that beautifully innocent voice that identified Jan's sound. So delicately soulful, just a pleasure to hear.

  • This woman had a PHENOMENAL voice, if there were any justice she would be in the RRHOF and her name would be known by EVERYONE who appreciates TRUE Soul!

  • The article in goldmine on Jan : Mama Didnt lie but everyone Else Did

  • Such a lovely song! Thanks for sharing it.

  • p.s. I love your videos that accompany the music

  • very nice! I love that intro! this reminds me of the type of sound Smokey Robinson was producing with Mary Wells on her 32-64 recordings. a sort of calypso-pop.

Jan is such an incredibly wonderful singer- she could sing the directions to assembling an entertainment shelving unit and it would sound like a sweet lullaby!
