Josh McDowell couldn't be more wrong about the renaissance. Some of the most beautiful and world famous artwork depicting Jesus and other fables from the Bible came about during that time, or is he going to be arguing that the David is a symbol of apostasy?

does capital "T" truth depend on the existence of God? How would this convince an atheist?

@LetReasonPrevail1 "Once you ALLOW....." Truth is....what it IS...whether you accept or deny Gravity doesn't stop it doing what it does.

Truth is that which comports with and accurately represents reality.
As such, once you allow for make-believe rubbish to enter into the realm of legitimate discourse, then anything can be said to be the truth.
However, I reject all such rubbish from entering into my logical purview.
I recommend you do the same.

@TheVidMod634 Now, he arrived at the truth, though he may not have actually called it "elephant" (or "elefante" or an equivalent word in another language). Everything observable is like this; sometimes we can't get all of the evidence, but it's there somewhere (consider the question of the particles making up those which comprise electrons and etc. - whether they exist or not and what they are may remain unknown, for a time, but they're still as they are). With similar laws, religion is similar.

No matter what they say, they're wrong unless they say it's an elephant (or even animal would be closer). However, if one of these people analyzes the whole elephant, they find this: this appears to be a face, and I can feel breathing. These must be ears, and boy, are they large! Down here are sharp things, but they come unlike most teeth. It's large, too, what a hunk of a body it has, and thick legs also. And back here's a bristly thing whacking me in the face, probably a tail.

I'm a bit of a scientist myself, so I think of explanations slightly differently. Consider this common analogy: we have, say, 10 blindfolded people trying to identify an elephant through the sense of touch. One feels the tail and says "A rope." Another a leg; "It's a tree." A tusk - "A spearhead." An ear - "A fan." Trunk "A hose." (That's just 5 examples but you get the idea). But in each case, the person is absolutely WRONG. They arrive at the conclusion, but with a fraction of available data.
