Little Red the Vicktory dog surprised everyone recently by passing the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test on her very first try! "She's a great dog," says Dogtown caregiver Betsy Kidder, who worked closely with Red to help her get ready for the test. This is especially exciting news for Little Red, who, by court mandate, as with other Vicktory dogs, had to achieve CGC certification before being considered for adoption. And her timing couldn't have been better. As luck (or fate!) would have it, a regular volunteer from the midwest, who'd loved Little Red for years, had barely told the adoption folks at Best Friends a couple months beforehand that she'd love to adopt Little Red. Everything cleared during the adoption application process, and lucky Little Red is now on her way to live in a foster-to-adopt situation, another court mandate. Way to go, Red!

Best Friends Animal Society is a nonprofit organization building no-kill programs and partnerships that will bring about a day when there are No More Homeless Pets®. At the core of Best Friends' work is the dream that one day kindness will replace cruelty and animals will no longer be destroyed because they are unwanted or imperfect. Spaying and neutering will be the rule for all pets and adoption will be the first option for everyone. Making this dream a reality is the mission we call No More Homeless Pets. The society's leading initiatives in animal care and community programs are coordinated from its Kanab, Utah, headquarters, the country's largest no-kill sanctuary. This work is made possible by the personal and financial support of a grassroots network of supporters and community partners across the nation. • Oh, thank you so much for this little red piece of good news. Her sweet face, blissfully enjoying her tummy rubs. I'm crying... THANK YOU!

I heard Mr. Prick broke his wrist. Now, if he could just get stomped, and hung and electrocuted... Maybe the karma balance would equalize.

  • She is soo sweet. I love pitties. So many of them are being put down. They are wonderful family dogs. I work with dogs every day and I must admit that especially pitties have captured my heart. Best of luck to Little Red in her new family. I long for the day where we can truly reach the goal of no more homeless pets.

  • I too have been a supporter of Best Friends an amazing organization! Too bad Vick did not see the value in these precious creatures. If he did, a significant portion of his income would go to better the lives of animals like Little Red. He did nothing more for "HIS" animals than what the judge ordered. Isn't it amazing that others are the ones supporting the dogs he almost destroyed. Please support places like Best Friends. Without us dogs like Little Red would not be with us.

  • I’ve have been a supporter of Best Friends forever !!! My heart just breaks when I think of the horrors of Michael Vicks ... Words can’t even say how much I hate the man for what he has done to these poor loving dogs. Thank God for Best Friends and all that they to give these dogs a second chance. YOU ARE ALL AWESOME !!!!

  • That is so awesome...these dogs deserve to be loved. As for Vick...I still can't believe they let him back in the NFL to make millions (I'd never watch his team play). He should have to give 1/3 his NFL salary to Best Friends and still do canine community service. What he did was inexcusable - period. And NEVER be able to own a pet.

  • God bless the angels at Best Friends and the beautiful miracles they help to bring about!

  • How awesome are these dogs! To overcome what they have endured and trust people again. These animals are gifts to us that need to be loved and cherished! Thank you so much for your efforts with these angels. Congratulations to the new parents of Little Red.

  • I'm just blown away by every new step these dogs have taken. My heart is so happy for Little Red and her new home. As time passes we should see more and more happy tales coming out of BF. Thank you, everybody, for giving these dogs that "extra" gift of love and understanding that they so deserve.

  • Such a great story....good luck Red ;)

  • And all that love can heal the darkest wounds. I love you Best Friends.
