On August 25, 2011, people gathered on Parliament Hill in Ottawa to bid farewell to Jack Layton (1950 - 2011), the leader of the NDP, who passed away on Monday, August 22nd. The Peace Tower bells played a number of songs today, but most moving to me was John Lennon's 'Imagine'. This song embodies many of the ideals that Jack Layton advocated for during his life and career. Thank you, Jack, for inspiring us to build "better, fairer, more equal country" and world together.
