jazz and blues have there rhythmic base/identity has in africa. it came from blacks born and bred in this country. what we create does not need the validation of africa or europe. i'm not negating influence, i'm just saying what transpired here could have only come from our situation here and in a since being of two cultures but sort of from neither. we could only create our own.
