  • I had sleep apnea and i went for reconstructive air way. I am wondering this is genetic cause my son at 4 years old does the same thing like this video... I dont know if he has to go to surgery at this age

  • @dannygom75

I believe sleep apnea is genetic or runs in families.

  • Yes Eli is much better. I knew he was going to have the tonsils and adenoids removed by the time I took this video. A month later we had the surgery, and he now sleeps like a lamb.. he is restful, his runny nose is gone, and he is quiet when he sleeps.. no more snoring.

to one one who has a child with symptoms like Eli - go to a pediatric ENT and have the child diagnosed. The surgery is easy, the kids bounce right back, and their entire life with transform once they can start sleeping!!!

  • Eli had successful surgery a month ago to remove his tonsils and adenoids , and he now is a restful relaxed sleeper.

the difference e is amazing. he breathes quietly through his nose, no longer gasping for air through his mouth. he does not toss and thrash around anymore. it is a pleasrue to see him sleep.

  • Hi. My daughter started doing this about 6 weeks ago - her breathing is exactly the same as this. She holds her breath too. She is 4 and a half. Have you had a diagnosis of sleep apnea and do you know what can be done?

    Thanks

  • Hello,

I recommend you discuss your observations with your pediatrician, and take your daughter to an ENT doctor (ear nose and throat). your pediatrician or ENT can recommend a sleep study to confirm the diagnosis of sleep apnea. We had a sleep study done for my son and he fell in the SEVERE range. In a few weeks we are getting his tonsils and adenoids removed in a surgical procedure. This should most likely clear up the apnea, constant runny nose, and recurrent ear infections. Good luck.

  • I've had many sleepless nights due to this, including tonight and for 5 years I've been going to doctor asking help and they keep on ignoring me, saying she'll grow out of it. For some reason I just wanted to see anyone else with this problem so I can compare if I am over reacting as they say, well I am not my little one breaths exactly the same. :(

  • You are amazing. Thank you for posting this video. I wish I'd had it when my son was little. He had his tonsils and adenoids removed at two and is alive and well today.... but it was a very scary and sleepless time. But, if I'd known to move his jaw like you did with your little blessing, he may not have had to fight so hard. - One question, with your little bundle of joy, does a pacifier help? How long before you need to adjust his airway again?

  • I'm so glad he's doing better. I have severe sleep apnea myself (use CPAP now). I'm starting to wonder if my son doesn't have a mild form of it.

  • Poor baby. I hope he got some relief

  • i had this same condition, i got the surgery when i was 11 years old. it helps a great deal :D i sleep awesome now 9 years later :D
