I didn't bring a bike, but for this Mass it didn't prove necessary: from Union Square the cyclists walked their bikes to the 13th Precinct station to offer a retirement gift to retiring Assistant Chief Bruce Smolka. The Rude Mechanical Orchestra provided musical accompaniment.

  • Morons who filmed this video. Don't flatter yourself. They weren't there for you idiots. That was a Counter-Terrorism deployment. Should there be a terrorist attack, they can be anywhere in the City within a few short minutes. And they will race there while you are running away, cowering in fear.

By the way, your music sucks. That's my constitutionally protected opinion.

  • One person that doesn't think CM'ers are all poor hippies

  • most people i know ride the subway and lirr.. what youre seeing is the militarization of the police force,.

  • What exactly is "disobedient" about riding your bike around town at the same time that other people happen to be doing so?

  • Hey Bay Boy the working class who built and protect this city can't afford to live here anymore and have to drive from far away towns to work. the people protesting are wealthy yuppies and hipsters who have drove up rents and have nothing better to do on fridays than to be a pain in the ass to people who actually work for a living and are trying to go home.Of course you guys can use your bikes as transportation, because you are the only ones who can afford to live in manhattan.

  • NYC is making poor economic development choices if it chooses to unconstitutionally infringe on the assembly rights of protesters demonstrating for better bicycling transportation engineering. At the end of the day we have to think about how we can move the most amount of folks using the least amount of street space. Individual private cars are not the way to go. Nonviolent civil disobediance is a respected institution.
