  • Cool project! and if do not want to connect it to a computer to trigger shutter, you can use this device to remotly shoot long exposures with any camera: ASTRUS : astrus.bymac.org

  • @bymacorg exactly one of the great benefits of remote triggers especially reduces on gear weight if you're not wanting to lug a laptop around

  • Heads up man, that's a good way to create artifacts in photos by exposing the inside of that camera so much. I was cringing the whole I watched that part with live mode without a lens. Poor sensor. :)

btw I know the video is old

  • @airwickyeager Are you talking about when I didn't have the camera connected to the telescope? (If so ha yes I'm aware but, it a demo camera or was at the time and have to make some compromises for the viewers)

  • I plan on getting a t-adapter for my rebel t1i to my etx-80 telescope for use as a telephoto lens during the day. I have heard that using a telescope as a lens for these cameras can ruin the camera, is that true?

  • @SBMFfilms Possibly if used during the day and pointing it straight at the sun

  • @fnd1220 Hey, love the video it's helped me out a lot! But I have a question about focusing my telescope (with t2i attached). No matter what object I tried pointing to; Orion's Nebula; Jupiter; or the Moon, it would not come into focus. I am sure it is an easy fix but I can't seem to figure it out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Hi How do I take a time exposure (not through a telescope) of the north star so I can get a photo of the circular rotation of the stars (around the north star) with my Nikon D 3100 camera? I did this years ago using a tripod & non digital equipment (35 mm camera).I used the "B" setting on the top dial and then attached a cable release and locked the shutter open for approx. 3 - 4 hrs. This produce a circular rotation photo of the stars w/the north star in the middle. Thank you for your help.

  • Good video, I have a 600D on a t-mount and t-adapter hooked up to a Celestron Sky-Watcher but I seem to be having trouble focusing. I was using the focusing on the telescope and it seemed to be coming more into focus as it moved but it didn't move far enough in.

I was focusing on very distant landscape though since it's daylight now, will it be different for stars in the sky?

  • hi great vid! got a question for u if thats ok,

when doing prime focus astrophotography i can not use the lcd screen on the dslr to focus as it is blank,no image, the image only displays after it has been taken, is that normal? thanx

  • Nice video, great for amateur DSLRers like me! I've got a Nikon D5000 with a 70-300mm lens, I'm guessing I wouldn't be able to photograph much except the moon? How much do you reckon it would cost to buy an alright set-up just to photograph the planets?

  • Aaam!
