Ben Collins, 28, of Seattle, WA, with a time of 1:48:11, and Rebeccah Wassner, 35, of New York City, who defended her title for the third year in a row, clocking in at 2:03:19, were the winning pro triathletes in the 11th annual Nautica New York City Triathlon.
More than 3,000 athletes took the plunge into the Hudson River along Manhattan's West Side in Riverside Park for the Nautica New York City Triathlon. Participants swam 1.5 kilometers (.9321 miles) in the Hudson, biked 40 kilometers (24.85 miles) on the Henry Hudson Parkway, and ran 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) in Central Park.
Athletes were represented from 43 states (plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico) and 26 countries, including Australia, Bermuda, Colombia, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, Spain and Sweden. Registration for this year's race, which was held in November 2009, filled up in a little over 6 minutes. This year, there was $30,000 in prize money.
