For a short golden period this event was about country versus country. Now it's about ego versus ego. I'm a Kiwi, it's sad to see that my countrymen are leading both syndicates. Perhaps we really are the barbarians of the modern world. We will fight for anyone who pays us enough. Please get back to a contest between iron men on wooden boats (OK carbon reinforced) rather than billionaires on space craft. Get back to team and skill rather than who has the biggest wallet. @heinrich97 - Pure capitalism is about people buying goods and/or services from each other on the free market. It becomes corrupted and morphs into crony capitalism, or fascism (Mussolini preferred the term "corporatism" to fascism) when the government gets involved.

@TheRobsDad - The Americas Cup has always been an elitist sport using the fastest boats going way back to the J Boats. So why shouldn't they progress with the fastest boats in the world which are multihulls? The notion that there is no strategy involved with fast ONE DESIGN multi's is totally bogus as has been proven when you watch the AC45's race.

Capitalism is not about making somthing out of your life. Capitalism is about letting money do the regulation of all things including the ones that should better be judged by morale. Making something out of your life includes becoming wise, achieving goals compatible with social restraints and acting in an economic way. And I run my business pretty fine with that but making money is not the only objective I have whereas capitalism has no other objectives.

@heinrich97 yeah its pretty retarded being able to own and opperate your own business, make your own money, and carve out a place in society for yourself, and actually do something you can be proud of. i can see why all that would be wrong...so wrong. i mean, we should all just be able to stay at home and smoke a bunch of pot n be slobs with no ambission or no goals and no desire to make anything out of ones life.

@dspqpsk youre right..Tv networks should just show stuff on tv that would fail. i mean thats what business is all about right. doing what ppl dont want. yeah that tends to make you lots of money. this isnt popular here, although it is cool, so why would they show it...dont start a business, pretty sure youd fail.

Hell, Our networks don't even show home grown racing events on our own soil more then half the time...... Shove Nascar, I'd like to subside the life size slot car track to see some real racing!
