Transformers - 3D Bumblebee on Real footage - matchmoving

Matchmoving test with bumblebee. Tracking isn't perfect and there are a few mistakes that should be fixed. My goal was to make it look just like a toy among other toys.

Image quality is low because otherwise it would take forever to render.

Pretty much like everyone else said here, awesome freakin track. Not only that but the model itself was actually integrated into the live-recording better than most I've seen. Lighting, shading, etc. matched close enough I wouldn't have thought it was cg at all if I hadn't read the title. Taking the graphics quality and the tracking quality both into account, your clip stomps a mudhole in most SyFy movies I've ever seen. Did you use the surrounding toys to help with shaders for the model?

@Gr1mmReap3rT2 Thanks for the nice comment. My goal was to make a bumblebee that looked like a toy surrounded by other toys. I tried to mimic the light of the real footage, there are two lights here, one for each window. I did a lot of tests to match the shadow direction, intensity and fuzziness of the real footage. The same with shaders: 3d model couldn't have too strong saturated colors, for instance. I looked at the real toys and tried to reproduce the same kind of shader on the 3d model.

@camel747 Yes I could make it move, I had another project to make an exterior movie with bumblebee transforming into car shape... but I gave up because of my limited time.. work work and more work...

eh... watched almost the whole movie... at the end i thought "wtf is this movie about?"... then i re-read the title and watched the movie again... awesome work, man!!! it's so great, that i haven't notice CG Bumblebee in the centre of the whole movie ))

@Naryck That's good! It means the 3d integration with video footage was not so bad! There is a mistake... watch the dinosaur near bumblebee's foot!
