I was riding my motorbike back from Coffs Harbour to Kempsey that fateful night and came accross this accident . I will never forget it. I often stop in at the memorial at Clybucca it reminds me of the time when i was just 19 years old and had no care in the world being young and bullet proof, Then i come accross this terrible accident and see so many lifeless bodies on the side of the road it changed me forever knowing so many people loved them and here they were all deceased it was so sad.

Can you show me evidence of "one of the drivers fell asleep"? It surely and logically would suggest that one driver fell asleep, but as they are both dead, how does "the news" or anyone come up with proof of that fact? There are many ways for a vehicle to cross the centre line, such as; cramp in the leg/arm spasm, distraction, headlight blindness, sudden deflation of a front tyre. Of course, I may be fishing for excuses for the drivers or the reason for the horrific smash. But who knows?

It's the worst crash ever in Australia my brother was one of the last people to be extracted from the bus, he survived after almost 8 months in hospital. His newly wed wife did not survive they were on the way to her parents place to spend Christmas. R.I.P Kathy Christensen we will always love you.

And the 4 laning of the Pacific Highway between Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour remains incomplete. Yes, it is 2011 and 22 years since the crash.
Despite a Coroner's Report giving a clear direction of dual carriageways to be constructed, it still is many years away.
The road between Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour will be lucky to be dual carriageway by 2020. Disgracefully long time, shame on successive Federal Govts.
