1st,
Ps3 500 GB SATA ATA 2.5, must be 5400 rpm
SIZE OF THE HD does not MATTER OR brand,
Recommended Seagate,
2nd.
For ps3 model# CECHH01 and higher FORWARD slide HD cady.
3rd.
HD THAT SLIDES SIDE WAYS
Model# CECHA01, CECHB01, CECHE01, CECHG01 Does not need files to download for the upgrade just follow the un installment and
re installation re format the HD when prompt to format,
you are set.
Now you are set for this model.
No hassles, Just UN install and install.

Not responsible if you mess up your ps3
Ive tested on 2 different models and work's forward & left slide caddy

  • i heard 7200 rpm works better

  • it suppose to work beater but it cause large amount of heat and then ps3 shuts down after use so don't use if you don't want to get THE --- YLOD---

  • Wat about the samsung spintpoint 500gb 5400rpm? Is that good. I saw good cooments on it. And on the 500gb 7200 rpm seagate I didn't really see anything negative but for some reason just on the 5400rpm one. Thanks for your help

  • its good but always use Seagate momentous if you do your home work, Seagate and Fujitsu Hard drive are the 1st OEM provider for the ps3 but remember you get what you pay Seagate as bean the best for all my electronics it's more on the prise,

the best go for a Seagate Momentous :)

  • @ghostangel1982 What about Hitachi?

  • @ghostangel1982 Yeah when I upgraded my hdd from a 60gb to a WD 500 gb, I experienced freezing problems, so I replaced it with a Seagate 320 gb because I noticed the original 60gb was manufactured by Seagate as well, works like a charm now!

  • there is no support for my ps3 model "CECHJ04" please tell me what should i do to see the hard-disk changing guide!

  • @soychino911 8mb

  • @HatazBettaChill There's a 4 second speed difference on average. I researched the difference and that's that number that popped up most. Not really worth 7200 rpm in my opinion. but that's just me. Do whatever you want, it's your console. lol ;-)

  • hi, can you tell me the cache for a hard drive please...

    8 MB, 16 MB or 32 MB....

  • okay well my first 80 GB HD was corrupt then i put in a new 160GB HD and it said that one was corrupt and now im starting to get pissed. Because i cant use HDMI is it because of the HD or is it my TV or HDMI cable does anyone know? What are the chances that both HD's are corrupt///

  • if u back it up with your ipod touch do you loose al your apps and stuff ? and the ios on it?

  • I use WD scorpio black 320g 7200rpm (with free fall sensor) and I saw a mojor dicrease at loading times...NO PROBLEMS WITH HEAT....and thrust me..I push my system to the end when I play...

  • you are wrong....I have a WD sorpio black 320g (with free fall sensor) and it works PERFECT....just if you want to go to 7200rpm...prefer a reliable brand...

  • Seagate Momentus 5400.6 500GB SATA 2.5" (8MB Cache / 5400RPM) ST9500325AS

    Works ?!
