Celebrating the life of James Luther Bevel, who was born on October 19, 1936 and died on December 19, 2008. Services were held at the Greater Christ Temple Apostolic Church in Eutaw, Alabama, on December 29, 2008. We are blessed with comments for Rev. Bevel's daughter Shalay Bevel.

James Bevel was my Uncle and I had I thank God for the priveledge of meeting him and gaining words of wisdom and inspiration. I was able to attend the funeral and see so many faces I had only heard of which truly was a blessing! Shalay is a cousin that i'll never forget lol for so many reasons that day & i love her to death.

Shalay is one of my favorite people in the world. She weathers the fallout from being the brilliant child of a brilliant man, her course set by his history & destiny that drove him to do Great & Terrible Things. Here's to her, to him, to all of us driven down strange paths looking for true power to heal. That work is nasty & dangerous. He taught us we had to go & see what the end would be with no guarantee we would succeed or even survive. Only time will tell what we gained & lost & what it cost
