hey, would you say these are actually worth buying? im looking into the space pilot pro and really not sure how it helps :S

Navigation and editing are done by your left and right hand, respectively. So, yes, that is possible.

I see this question has been waiting for an answer for much too long, so, let me answer it.
I use the SpacePilot, myself, but the answer is the same for both. The 3D controller is used exactly as you suggest.

I have a question: Can I use the space navigator with a classic mouse? I mean this can be for camera/viewport controlling, and the classic mouse can be for creating/modifying objects ?

can u pan the top viewport with the spacenavigator while drawing a shape?
