  • I bought the hot cam kit last week but, I have another question for you. When you installed the hot cam, did you also upgrade to the LT4 extreme duty timing chain? In the box the kit came in it recommend it for operation above 5500 RPM. Thanks for your input

  • @richcory Nope - I left the original timing chain in place. A few years later I replaced it with a heavy-duty chain when I rebuilt the engine as a 383.

  • Find the link to this vid on corvetteforum... The pic of that car launching is all over google images when you search C4's.. How much did the build cost if you don't mind me asking?

  • @bighunt08 When I made that video, I hadn't yet rebuilt the engine - it was just a HotCam, headers, and gears. That part cost about $3K total.

Since then I've rebuilt the engine as a 383, giving me almost 500 HP at the crank. The rebuild was about $8K more! It's still street legal and now runs the quarter in mid-11's. Zero to sixty has been as low as 3.1!

  • Still got your Vette!? I've been thinking about a HOT cam for my stock LT4...

  • Damn

  • Dam 12s not bad 4 the mods

  • I ordered the extreme duty chain kit today. I figured while it was apart why not do it now. I am planning on having it all installed in march-april time frame. Really anxious to see how it drives after it's all completed. Thanks for all your answers.

  • @al3id After I added the HotCam and the headers, I needed a new chip to account for the different airflow rates. The car ran very rough with the original chip, as expected, after the cam/header swap.

  • @gyro9 big performance change with the chip??

  • @gyro9... Nice!.. I paid 10k for my 94 six speed (70k miles) so for much less than the price of a new one you can rebuild your old one to outrun them!!!... Keep up the good the good work on that fine machine and please post more videos!!!
