Actually, it is a language. But I do agree that some people can't tell the difference between Irish and Scottish accents. I find it hilarious that my teacher pulled out a Scottish accent, but everyone could tell it was Irish. Funny little story there XD
People. Gaelic actually is a language. It doesn't sound like this though, coming from me who grew up speaking it even before I learned English. Over the years it's leaked out, but Gaelic IS a language, it's a dying language, but some singers try to keep it alive, like Maire Brennan and Sinead O'Connor. ^^
@jump2lo there is scottish gaelic- pronounced gah-lik and only 60,000 people out of about 5 million scots speak it, but us Irish speak Irish funnily enough, nothing annoys an irish person more than calling irish gaelic, even in the irish language irish is gaelige- pronounced gwayl-geh.
as an Irish person, this is offensive. irish people speak irish( well some of us). there is such a language as scottish gaelic- pronounced gah-lik. but this is just taking the piss ! normally we dnt mind but this is shit, its not even funny
