@RachelsNotDead I understand that Mary was manipulated and yes, Mary did NOT deserve her nickname "Bloody Mary". However, to state that she was a great queen is inaccurate. She was tragically misunderstood, abused and suffered severe distress (especially with rumours circulating that Henry, her own father, wished her sudden death). This resulted in such atrocious behaviour; i.e mass burnings. THAT is not being a great queen, rather the result of abuse.

i like Anne Boleyn, Elizabeth, Mary and Katherine of Aragon :D

Here is another one for you: Peter the GREAT of Russia killed far more Russians than Ivan the TERRIBLE, but gets a pass because he defeated the Swedes and the Turks (after a series of earlier losses) to transform Russia into a great power. The same with Elizabeth: everyone praises her for the Armada, but England LOST every other major naval battle against Spain during her reign, and took a beating in Ireland as well.

Mary was a second mother to Elizabeth in many ways despite the cruelty done to her by Anne Boleyn, something which most people could never bring themselves to do toward the child of their wicked stepmother. History is written by the winners, and Protestant historians refuse to acknowledge the over 4,000 Catholics put to brutal death under Elizabeth, and the laws designed to aid the poor enacted under Mary but repealed by Elizabeth.

Every time people feel sorry for Anne, they should remember how Anne treated Mary, a vulnerable adolescent; Anne was more than happy to disinherit and plot to kill Mary, but then for some reason thought Mary should publicly accept her as Queen of England in lieu of her own mother. It's not like Mary HAD to be disinherited and it's not like she had to be treated badly.

Touching video :) Obviously Mary made many mistakes in her life, but I believe she was a rather tragic figure. And that she was manipulated by others and greatly affected by the events and rejections she experienced as a child. Of course, that doesn't excuse some of the atrocities she later committed....Just saying.
Beautiful video! I really like the portrayal of young Mary in the "Tudors"...She's strong, independent, loyal and kind.

The producers/directors/creators did an AMAZING job creating Mary from an innocent kid and then showing how she was so badly treated that she slowly became warped. They showed her slow and subtle change into a cruel woman, through mistreatment, not personal nature. And they didn't make the change immediate, but gradual.

@donnylovesayesha1 totally! :)

@PeaceLoveSmile4 hey she may have stood for something but in the end Anne had the last laugh by giving England it's greatest monarch so far
I agree. Mary was a kind girl, manipulated by more ambitious men. Even though her father did horrific things to her--and the English--his name was "Bluff King Hal" and Mary is dubbed (quite cruelly, I think) "Bloody Mary."
She was a good queen, and a good person...Katherine of Aragon was a fantastic queen...Henry VIII's behavior towards her DISGUSTS me. He was heartless, as was Anne Boleyn.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and th
is is mine: Mary was a great queen and person
5 stars!!!

Mary Tudor is my favourite character in "The Tudors Series" and in the tudor family. She was really a true princess and queen, and she was misunderstood and abandoned by her father.
I don't like the fact that they call her "bloody Mary" because her father and half-sister Elizabeth were even more bloody than her. This only happens 'cause she was catholic, that's why they blame her.
But in my opinion she was better than Elizabeth. (I know that people will disagree).
Really well done. 5 stars!!
