I then decided to read more of the origins of the Cham people and their language. I was so eager to hear a Cham dialogue and what they looked like because I do speak fluent malay. I've got a sister in law who married a kelantanese and their language is more thai than malay. . I came here hoping to see if there were any such video uploads. You surprised me with your interest and your knowledge in this topic. I am very grateful to you and proud of your dedication. Keep up the good work.

Hi brooklynmonk, I did read up on the Champa Kingdom sometime ago and it wasn't as comprehensive as it is today. I intended to read more about the island of Sumatra just today and came across the state of Aceh. I was astounded to read that the Acehnese were Cham descendants and that their language were mainly Cham. They were minor protectorates of the ottoman empire. Learnt to build cannons from the turks. Stoutly defended themselves from the Dutch barbarians......

I think he meant that Cham is related to the Malay language that is spoken in Malaysia and Indonesia. They are all Austronesian langauges in the same Western Malayo branch.

@kacy12345able I have no idea what your comment means. Sorry, if you could maybe get a native speaker or a high school graduate to re-write it, i would be happy to answer.

By the way, I'm Filipino and I love linguistics and culture very much.
You mentioned that there were Chamic people who settled in the island of Palawan of The Philippines. Where exactly are they? I would like to know thanks.
