@nightlydemon At first glance, you might think it get's tangled, but it is too wide and does not. Rolled up it stores easily. Also, the zipper is a heavy duty zipper, #5, that has yet to pop or pull apart. If anything, the ribbon would go first. But again, it's made with grosgrain ribbon that is sturdy. It is also reinforced on the sides near the handle to prevent it coming apart. Granted, of course, anything can wear out with abuse and yes, this is a a novelty item. It is meant for fun!

I can see it as a great novalty item, but it's practicality eludes me. How is unzipping a bag into a long ribbon that can easily get tangled, and mar up the teeth that would close it, make a more convinient bag? Also, its the same ammount of fabric used in a conventinal bag, only with weak points all through it because zippers can, and will, pop if there is too much weight on them. True, a conventianal bag isn't as much fun, but they seem more practical to me and will probably last longer.

@parodies9and7crafts It's made sewing ribbon on a very long zipper. I use 5 1/2 yards for a lady's purse. (The one show in the video is 3 yards, for a girl's purse). Same amount for ribbon, and the instructions were originally on Sewing with Nancy where they showed step by step how to construct the lady's purse. I just took it a little further and made little girls purses and makeup bags.

@langham5to9
Do you know where to find this episode or can you show how us to make one on youtube? I've searched the internet top to bottom and can't find the episode where Nancy shows how to make this bag. Thanks so much!

@Fabiana288 I, too, could not find this episode online. I believe Mary Malari, who created this design, has workshops on how to sew them and apparently this episode is not available for free. However, you can purchase her book at Nancy's Notions website which is where I bought the "Zip & Carry Bags" book to help me understand how to make it. I will not be making a sewing episode myself, but I would be glad to assist you with any questions.
