Outdoor water purification is very important. Getting sick in the outdoors can have severe results. There are many options out there to make contaminated water safe to drink. This is a review, and outdoor demonstration of one of your options.

  • Great info! I use the POTABLE AQUA tablets for camping. The two part system that they claim removes the iodine taste after the water is safe to drink.Still a strong chemical flavor to it if you ask me...Is there any special care you need to take with the filter? wash it out before storage or anything like that to prevent mold or can you just keep it in your pack and use it as needed?

  • Thanks Buddy! Yeah I have the PA tabs too. Yup they tatse like crap, Even with the neatralizer. Long-term filter storage: They recommend you make a bleach solution with tap water(or micropur tabs instead of bleach), and pump it through the filter. Remove hoses and actual internal filter and let air-dry. When ready to use again, flush fresh tap water through filter to rejuvinate and remove stale taste. Thanks Again!!!!

  • thanks for another great vid..these are some of the most informative ones out there!!

  • Much Appreciated bro!

  • and bugs in the water before i choose to use it. Many times with a little searching i can find a natural spring. This is always a welcome treat to the thirsty traveler. I have been using a steripen UV treatment system, iodine tabs and boiling. I think its time I add a quality filter like the Katadyn to my kit. Thanks for sharing and your time. Keep it up bro. • I liked the vid very helpful and informative. Is there a similar USA made water filtration system?

  • Great review, just what I needed, instead of watching the standard company video demo... I have subscribed to your channel as you seem to have similar interests to me...

  • @FlingBoogers Yeah, but I got something as part of a disaster kit for when The Big One hits. I won't be in the backcountry then...

  • I Would fill up a bottle with river/lake water and put a bandanna over the bottle opening and pour it into a pot and boil it and then filter for %100 clean water

  • 5/5

    Subscribed.

  • How do you know when you need to replace the filter?

  • @Meatwad650 true. But in most backcountry areas virus risk is low, and to minimize any risk, make sure you are not getting water from the very top. Let the water be sucked from underneath the top layer of water (does that make sense?) at least a foot under water anyways.. I've always just used a filter and never ever gotten sick... at least here in Canada, then again most of our water sources are fairly clean.

  • so after running the water threw this filter could i drink it directly?
