For Emily Wherever I May Find Her live in 1969.

What a dream I had
dressed in organdy
clothed in crinoline
of smoky burgundy
softer than the rain

I wandered empty streets down
past the shop displays
I heard cathedral bells
dripping down the alley ways
as I walked on

and when you ran to me
your cheeks flushed with the night
we walked on frosted fields
of juniper and lamplight
I held your hand

and when I awoke
and felt you warm and near
I kissed your honey hair
with my grateful tears
oh, I love you girl
oh, I love you

  • John Frusciante did a great version of this too. What a beautiful song!

  • @3soccerstars Just remember, no matter how much you might hate new pop music, your Dad probably hated what you liked when you were a teen, too. This is coming from an adamant detractor of modern pop, too. Let the kiddies have their fun.

  • @nightfox.losing in love is like a window in your heart.paul simon.keep it up.thanks.

  • The most beautiful song ever, just broke up with my gf, and it is making me think of her, I really loved her with all my heart. Now she has a new bf, and my heart is shattered into a million pieces. Listening to S&G makes my heart regain some sort of shape, but my heart will never be whole ever again

  • @ctwomey Surely for red hot chili peppers, deep purple, direstraits, rory gallagher.. peace!

  • @justaboy34 - You need to change "dripping down the alley ways" to "tripping". (-:

  • @Widmon If by powerful you mean vomit inducing, I agree!

  • A friend of mine named Emily just got engaged last week. This song always makes me think of her and her fiancee. They're so sweet together!

  • Played at the funeral yesterday of my great-niece Emily - she was only a week old.

  • I don't think I'll ever feel this way about a woman... I hope I will though...
