Lenny knows he only got on tv because he was a minority and the bbc had a quota to fill..

What annoys me is that the BBC plugged him for years even though they knew he was crap.

Plenty of other funny black comics around, why did we end up with Lenny Hnery

@Albert18264 Lenny Henry just ticked a box for the bbc as a minority and therefore ended up on tv, just like Larry Grayson did in the 1970s, television needed a gay performer and some useless people were chosen to fill the quotas.

People think good on him, a minority man makes it on tv and makes a good living out of it.. But don't forget it was the licence payer who was paying the wages of people chosen soley because they ticked a box.

Mostly sindicated footage, (from the States), interspersed by Mr Henry's, 'comical', quips, canned laughter and a few rows of people told when to clap/look amused whenever the camera happens to cut to them.  Not entirely Lenny's fault, mind. The current level of TV comedy, overall, is somewhat mundane. So, the fault can't all be placed at his feet.
