I've have rats and they have 3 bowls of food. 1 bowl is for dry rat blocks, in which i sometimes soak in water for a bit because they like the texture a bit better. The second bowl is for gerbil/hamster food, they like the seeds.
The third bowl is for fresh fruit and vegetables. If you are looking for supplements for food, check out the books "rats" by debbie Duccomann. She was a list in the back of the book,, which you can prolly look up on line also.

Oliver is my first rat. I honestly had no idea not to feed that to my rat.
I had no idea rats could even eat peanut butter XD. I feed my rat rat food :/ (supliment ideas anyone?)

Yeah, Two years ago. My 18 month old male, choked on peanut butter. He almost died, until my mom (who is a nurse) Used a Pipette, to put warm water down his thought, thankfully, this didnt hurt him.

And a smart person who owns/want to get a rat will look up what is and what is not good to feed your rat.
