Good cover!
My suggestion:
Tighten up your snare head, and maybe the snares a little bit,
then take the muffling ring off.
If you play with it long enough, you'll get it in tune and it'll sound sexy.
There's lots of tuning techniques online, or you can message me for my method.
Take a listen to my kits, absolutely no muffling, not even a pillow in my bass drums.
