Haters have no need for any rationale or logic. It's not facts they're interested in but simply the desire to hurt other people, especially the defenseless. We actually should take pity on them as it's unlikely they will ever find happiness in this world as their hate must contaminate every part of their lives!

rather, it would be better to actively educated people, like covering it in documentaries, have celebs (sad but it works) do some actuall research and meetings with autistic people, it seems to be the only way to get ... people to understand

I am autistic and have epilepsy. I can talk. Although many autistic people can talk, it seems that verbal speech difficulties of some kind or another are pretty common with all forms of autism.

Yes we should get the help we need. But autism speaks doesn't help autistic people. The money raised at the walks goes to fund genocide. So if you really want to help autistic people, you would be protesting the autism walks rather than participating.

Even if there were any valid arguments for curing/preventing "low functioning"(functioning labels are a load of crap by the way) autism (which there aren't), cures and prevention wont be limited to those labeled "low functioning". There is no way to prevent one kind of autism and not another. And it's not just "high functioning" people like me who oppose a cure, there are "low functioning" non verbal autistics, like Amanda Baggs, who oppose a cure.
