Amtrak Acela Train 2253 departs westbound for Philadelphia and Washington D.C. from Newark-Penn Station. The reason it took so long for 2253 to depart in the beginning was because someone ran to board at the last second and the train got held up. Today's equipment is 2004 on the point and 2018 brings up the rear as the trailing motor. After 2253 departs, the ending is a shot of the train on track 5, which was the New Jersey Transit Raritan Valley Branch local to Raritan, with GP40PH-2B 4204 on the point. The video was taken on Saturday, January 26th, 2008.

  • @rudy27rudy So you're are the one in charge of these awful trains.

  • No.2004

  • @anderberger Its a F40 Or Geep in the background.

  • that train is sooooo fast...

  • Those trains can drive up to 150mph, 240km/h. In Europe (the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany and Spain) we have seperate tracks, this goes even faster, our high speed trains are able to drive up to 215mph because we have seperate tracks.

So @toontownaddict Just build a new track, only for high speed trains. This will make traveling twice as fast.

  • The US rail system is a first class freight network and a last place passenger network. The only problem with building highspeed rail is it will effect the US freight system and is very costly. The US freight system is easily the largest and busiest in the world but it is already stretched to its max in many ways which must be taken into account when building hih speed rail.

  • now if we just have these trains all over the nation.

  • for being electric it sure does sound loud

  • I think the Acela and rail travel is great but its too expensive. Most of the time its cheaper to fly. I'd rather use rail to go on a trip say from Boston to Washington DC but the price doesn't give you much incentive to use rail.

  • @Baron2yahoo yes, WE NEED TO CONVINCE OUR COUNTRY TO STEP IT UP.

Henry Ford is to blame, moreover, when the highways were built up in the 60s-70s

nobody thought about int rail system, because it was once again, about the car.

    Hind site is 20/20
