  • what was that last tune you were playing at 5:55? its so beautiful!

  • @SmallFish616 It's just my improvisation

  • The "typical '80s melody" I play is probably from P. Lion's "Happy Children". I grew up in Italy and that song was heavily played at parties in my teenager years, during the Synth Pop / Italo Dance era... so it was probably stuck in my subconscious when I played that synth line in the OB-8 demo

  • i love the song at star of video, anyone have the name of the song? thanks

  • The vaguely drum 'n bass thing at the very start of this video? It is simply the "SynthMania Theme", created by me. It's a short intro that I put together a few years ago to be used as bumper in my videos. If I remember correctly, I used Propellerhead Reason for the 303-style bass, the classic Amen breakbeat for the drumloop, the Roland D-50's preset 47 "Spacious Sweep" for the synth, and little else.

  • Does the ob8 have a built in sequencer?

If so, is it easy to use?

I'd love to have one of these!

    5 stars

  • No sequencer but it does have an arpeggiator.

  • Oh, man! Awesome demonstration! I'm so glad I found this, totally subscribing to your channel. Great variety of style and sound. I thought only jexus(W.C. Olo Garb) was making worthwhile synth demos, check out his youtube channel if you don't know who I'm talking about.

  • Crikey! What a beauty mate!

  • So Sweet, So Warm, So Brilliant, So Phatt! Thank you for offering your videos to the world my friend!

  • Man, that sounds so good! I just bought one on FEEBAY for $2,000 which included a Oberheim DX drum machine. Both units play and sound wonderfully!!! All I need now is the DSX sequencer!

I think they usually go for around $200 when you can find them. Thanks for the inspiration!

  • PHAT!!!!!!!

  • Don't get me wrong, I love the fact I can make music on a Mac / PC and not much else.......it's great. And yet if I had the dosh to buy old classics like this baby..........I STILL would! It's so FAT sounding.......

  • This sounds SO much better than your Prophet 5 video. I think of the OB as the quintessential synth sound by which all others are judged ;)

  • does somebody knows a good (analog) synth that can give me that phat, detuned ob-8 sound?
