Red Star Northeast Raiders
Afternoon Sortie

Flying W Airport
Lumberton, New Jersey
Saturday October 11, 2008

IN THIS VIDEO, watch as I place a camera inside a Nanchang CJ-6A, piloted by Carey O'Donnell for a training sortie over southern New Jersey. This was the fourth time I had gone up in a formation flight, and this flight helped me to appreciate formation flying much more than past flights, which were merely media flights to say the least. The purpose of this flight was two-fold - as an invite and at the same time, to help these guys get some photos (my friend Andrew was in the red Yak-52) and video they could use for their airshow act. You will see a bunch of different four-plane formations as well as formation breaks, and even some whifferdill maneuvering - it's the part of the video towards the end where I had no control over the camera, as I was more concerned with countering the Gs rather than getting the best video, and I don't have the best tolerance for G-forces.

I want to send a huge thank you to all of the pilots on the team - notably Carey O'Donnell (the pilot of the CJ-6A I was flying), Tom Reynolds (the pilot of the white and red Yak-52), Marty Sheehan (I believe he was in the back seat of the dark CJ-6A, which was flown by a gentleman named Keith - his last name escapes me), and Tim Stevens (the pilot of the red Yak-52) for their assistance in making this happen.

Like what you've seen? Well, if you are interested in purchasing DVDs of specific aircraft and/or of airshows, interested in anything and everything related to airshows (where the jet teams will show up, all airshow performers, airshow reports from airshows I have attended, previews of airshows I will be attending, etc.), a much more easier to navigate "version" of all of my videos, and/or everything there is related to aviation - including spotting guides to my favorite airports and military bases and aircraft factfiles, please take time to check out Steve's Airshow World at http://www.stevesairshow.com .
