Vikat ghetala shyam -Jagachya Pathivar

1960 Marathi movie starring Raja Paranjape and Seema is chalie chaplinsque story of a simple man "Sakharam" who lands in a prison and then with a gang of thieves. The gangster has kidnapped a young girl and blinded her. She dances in the streets to make money for the gangster played by Dhumal. The girl is recovered by parents and from blindness, while hapless Sakharam is blinded by the gangster as a revenge. The highlight of the movie was amazing lyrics by G.D. Madgulkar and music by Sudhir Phadke.

I can read G D Madgulkar and Dnyaneshwar. That is reward in itself. I think there should be movement to take Marathi (especially G D Madgulkar, V V Shirwadkar, Sant Eknath, etc.) to rest of the country. That will tells what differentiates us from rest of the country. Sanjay Jadhav

You are right, its Ramdas. But I'm afraid very few may know him outside Maharashtra hence I made it with "double" meaning - (Tulsi Ram) Das so everybody takes it as he likes it Tilsi Ram/ Ramdas. Anyway I'm prepared to apologize for the liberty taken ! :)))
