iam setting up a 300 win mag and some of the forums are talking about it being overkill, iam not sure theres overkill with these animals, a 230gr berger through both shoulders and vitals and i think it will definetely put them down, what do you think 300yardnoscope? or would a plain .308 do the trick.

Damnation- pigs are T O U G H. I popped a ~200lb sow through the heart from 10yds with a .30-30. She took a couple steps and looked at me I shot again and dropped her. Hogs are fun & tasty!

@porcine83 I totally understand. I have a similar story. I shot my Russian Trophy Boar thru the heart on a stalk with my Romanian PSL with 203gr sp and it went 10 yards until it dropped. Vaporized the heart and broke both front shoulder blades and the guide thought it was alive and was saying that I will have to finish it with my sidearm.
Shooting hogs is like shooting movie monsters... you have to pump them full of bullets until they stop. Too many examples for me to type.
