Uh I don't see what's so strange about this show? Have you even seen the crap we have here in America? Fucking purple dinosaurs talking to children and dancing...and need I mention Teletubbies?

I never watched a Japanese morning show and I don't speak Japanese however I STILL don't see why this video clip is so "WTF" worthy...Is it really that strange?? It looks like a typical childrens morning show to me except in a different culture. I can't understand whats being said but it looks educational and entertaining for small children. I guess I can see how someone can see this and think its crazy and odd but comments like "japs are freaks" is a small minded reaction.

@treestar I agree. it's weird but not THAT weird... I think for me it was just the old west theme and strange dance that didn't seem to match up.

This is a great show called Playing in Japanese - playfully presents great literature and difficult expressions in Japanese to kids. It's fun and done by people who are real artists (and Konishiki the sumo wrestler who wears a pineapple suit in it!) rather than mediocre Disney type people. it. It is weird, but consciously so and to great effect. People react to the general "those silly Japanese people are so weird" attitude on YouTube, often without getting the context of image they post.

I take heart in the fact that they probably said a similar "WTF?" when they saw a few of our morning shows. it's just fun to see other cultural entertainment and marvel at how very different it is.
