That's the same slow introduction as in Sigismondo, but in that opera it is an oboe that plays this solo, not a horn. Does anyone know why and when Rossini changed his orchestration for this solo? Maybe he didn't have a good enough honr player in Venice when he premiered Sigismondo in 1814?
