I grew up in the florida keys on Big Pine key which is about 3 miles south of bahia honda, and my birthday is also October 8th. About to move back after new years.

That was actually high tide, when the tide goes out theres probably another ten feet of exposed land :-) It was awesome. It poured rain that night and we sat in fron of the fire to keep warm in the rain, def. an amazing experience. We went in October and there were no no see-ums or mosquitoes :-)
