On March 20, 2009, Illinois Policy Institute CEO John Tillman debated Governor Pat Quinn on Fox Chicago's 'Good Day Chicago' program.

Quinn's tax hike would target lower, middle, and upper-income families:

• An individual making more than $14,000 would pay higher taxes.
• A couple earning more than $28,000 would pay higher taxes.
• A family of three bringing home more than $42,000 would pay higher taxes.
• A household of four with income over $56,000 would pay higher taxes.

  • @ekolke And if you privatize it to the point they don't want to play ball and you cant use a service because you cant afford it? ... You know how much roads cost to use in Long Island $15 for a toll shit... A private road several billions of dollars...

  • @mywotzone All of it poorly run and expensive. I would privatize all of it.

  • @ekolke You get nothing in return? The post office? The police department? Social Security? all social programs , grants , public schooling , fire department , your representation , your local facilities , your roads...

  • @mywotzone I am a slave to my employer, but they pay me. The government takes a large amount of what I earn and I get nothing in return. In fact they do more bad than good. You can be jealous all you like at the CEOs and business owners, but it is a waste of time. Most of them started out just like you. They took a chance. They put their own money at risk. They worked hard. Most rich people work a lot more hours than 9-5. Any thing good must come from you. No one is coming to the rescue.

  • @ekolke Taxing offshore accounts 10-15% to transfer there trillions into our country can be stopped... Corporate Tax cuts can be stopped... The richest 1% can pay the same 35% the majority pays... I love this "not being slave" shit if you have a job , at all , you're a slave to your employer at the end of the day , the only people who arent slaves to something are the business owners , and CEO's... If you work a 9-5 you'll never be rich end of story...

  • @mywotzone You can cut taxes. The 99% think they need government hand outs. Government handouts will not help them. Being a slave to government will not help them. Raising taxes enriches government, but no one else. The 99% will always get the short end of the stick until they realize that no one is going to do them any favors. Everyone acts in his or her best interests-you too. If you think government can tax others to pay for your life, forget it. Greece tried it. It did not work.

  • @ekolke You can't cut taxes dumbass...Only to the lower end of the 99%

  • it dont take any knowledge to rase taxes if we wanted our taxes raised we could higher a 5 year old to do that -taxes are for stupid people that dont know how to fix the budget

  • I wish Pat Quinn got shot in the head.

  • Quinn is an idiot. Get rid of lavish government pensions. No one else gets a pension anymore. Cut the fat in education. CUT SPENDING! CUT TAXES!
