Listen to Kenny Bellau talk about helping people in flooded Uptown neighborhoods after Hurricane Katrina. Day after day, he brought his fellow citizens to dry land, thwarting looters and saving pets along the way. "I was doing my best to just make sure everything was safe," Bellau recalls. "There wasn't anything in the world that I would have been doing other than that." Many citizen volunteers like Bellau contributed to the massive search and rescue efforts, which brought more than 60,000 people out of flooded areas.

You da man Kenny. I love to tell people your story and help make them aware of what New Orleans has been through, how far it's come, and how far it has left to go. New Orleans is an incredible place that everyone needs to see, full of incredible people that everyone needs to meet.
