@ErtyOpas You know how long the Islamic Revolution lasted? 20 YEARS! For 20 years, the whole Iranian population protested. 60,000 people were killed ONLY in ONE day. But we NEVER stopped. What does that tell you about us? You’re right. Change must come within. If the Iranians are not truly happy with the government, then they will NEVER stop until they get democracy. On the other hand, I apologize beforehand if I seemed rude in any of my rants. I just wanted to make a point.

@RedSoxTa They say they would prefer a true democracy. And why would I assume that YOU speak for 74 million Iranians? I have a pretty good idea that the Iranian people are probably very hospitable, but that doesn't mean their regime is any more desirable. But don't get me wrong. If the people of Iran are truly happy with a theocracy, they should keep it. Any change must come from within. I certainly don't want my country occupying Iran. It's their affair and their business.

Those Iranians will treat you, as an American, with more respect than any other country in the Middle East. Why the only problem you have with Iran is because of the dress code? The Iranians you know who are hopeful for a regime change do NOT represent the 80 million people living in Iran.

@ErtyOpas Actually, yes I am. I still talk to my cousin. As for the rape, do you know how many people are raped in the US? Google it. More and more women are getting raped in the US. More women get raped in the US than Iran. What does that say about YOUR culture and YOUR men?

@RedSoxTa Well, if they are happy with it, then that's what they should have.  The only thing is, you're the only native I've spoken to who says as much. All of the other Iranians I've talked with were hopeful for change in the Iranian government

@ErtyOpas Not only is Iran a theocracy, but it also a republic. I am NOT saying that the Iranian government is perfect, b/c it is not. Compared to other Muslim countries, they r the best. The only problem people have in Iran is the ECONOMY! Honestly, the economy is the main reason why my family moved to the US. Other than that, 95% of the Iranian people would NEVER betray their country when it comes to foreign countries trying 2 mess in their affairs. Iranians stick together.

@ErtyOpas Then explain why my cousin in Iran has facebook, etc. As for the election, Mousavi (who was a puppet for the US) made a big deal out of it. He claimed that he won the elections HOURS before the results were revealed. Women have to cover themselves because of they r Muslims. Not alot of women get raped in Iran. U no why? Mainly b/c the women cover up and if you rape anybody, by the Islamic law, you die. And you say theocracy is a bad thing! This is just ONE of MANY example.

@RedSoxTa I would place Iran on the upper side of the scale when comparing it to most other Muslim countries, but I think much of that has to do with the attitude of the people. Iranians are probably more enlightened than most other Muslims. That's all the more reason for me to believe that they would prefer a more secular system.

@RedSoxTa Dude, they have blocked access to the world wide web. The last election is suspect of fraud. How can we trust anything purported by the Iranian government? But I am hopeful the Iranian people can shake off the shackles of the theocracy. As for women's rights, why should they be required to cover up.
