WINNER Slapstik Contest 2-Matt Smith (Two Slapstiks)

Matt Smith's winning entry for Slapstik Contest 2. Matt performs an improvised drum solo using two Slapstiks.

Matt Smith is the son and grandson of two accomplished jazz musicians. At nine, he commenced with drums when his father's colleague Louie Bellson gave him his first pair of drumsticks. At 12, he performed his first gig with a jazz combo on Romanian National Television.

At 14, Matt produced his debut album featuring notable European musicians three times his age. In 2005 he became the youngest finalist in a national drumset competition, subsequently appearing on CNN, CBS Radio and PBS.

Since 2006, Matt has become a fixture in the WFD competitions, becoming their youngest world champion and holder of several world records.

ON JUNE 26, 2008 MATT BROKE MIKE MANGINI'S TRADITIONAL GRIP WORLD RECORD TO OFFICIALLY BE CLASSIFIED THAT GRIP'S WORLD'S FASTEST DRUMMER.

Hey matt I want to ask if your ever influenced by any metal drummers or listen to metal at all? Have you heard of Between the Buried and Me? I'm a drummer too and have to say that I think the 2 hardest schools to play are jazz and metal.
